The clients’ wish to create a “Malibu-inspired home with Scandinavian touches” set the creative minds at Pindan Homes in motion, resulting in a contemporary three-storey design that sits proudly in South Perth.

Seeking a high-specification home that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing, homeowners Anthony Scurria and Gina Rossi enlisted the help of Pindan Homes and the experts at X Space Architects to take their plans from design to an everyday reality.

“Like most blocks now in Perth’s metropolitan area, the block was narrow and long, so utilising the space was of the utmost importance, and the living areas were no different,” Pindan Homes General Manager Simon Greenlaw said.

“Designed to suit the entertainment-loving professional couple, there are three living areas across the three storeys, with a 24sqm balcony overlooking the city and a rear outdoor area with a plunge pool.”

Splashes of luxury finishings are dotted throughout the home, comprising spotted gum cladding, sprawling marble benchtops and modern appliances, including a pop-up rangehood, induction cooktop, built-in steam oven and 40-bottle Vintec wine fridge.

Leading on from the impressive open-plan kitchen and dining zone is a gigantic alfresco space that is definitely a sight to behold.

With a large set of stacking doors opening out to the partly covered space, the oversized balcony is the perfect place to sit back and relax or entertain friends and family on a warm summer evening.

According to Mr Greenlaw, the homeowners were keen to push the boundaries of residential design, which added a certain thrill and excitement for the designers during the planning process.

“A void over the dining area and a loft resulted in an imposing and captivating space, which made the room feel voluminous, yet unassuming,” he said.

“Outdoors the balcony balustrade was made up of timber and glass, with the metal screening acting as a balustrade to the staircase.

“This building will continue to evolve and make a statement over time, not just because of the design and build, but also the owners’ attention to detail.

“The inclusion of vine creepers to the metal screening will emerge and continue to change the appearance of the home.”

For Mr Scurria and Ms Rossi, the home of their dreams was delivered to their exact specifications, with their personal ethos always front and centre – “luxury doesn’t have to represent the money spent, but where it was spent”.

“It was important for us to create a sanctuary; to come home and unwind in a well-planned space that matched not just our lifestyle, but our personalities,” the couple said.
